Toll rates will be revised from midnight on
Wednesday. The new rates will apply to 22 plazas across the State on the
9 National Highways. There are a total of 43 plazas in the State
covering around 2,300 km of road length, where concessionaires under
build-operate-transfer mode collect toll fee on behalf of the NHAI. The
fee revision for the remaining plazas is done on April 1 every year.
Speaking
about this, a senior official from the National Highways Authority of
India, or NHAI, said, There will be no increase in rates at any of the
plazas. In many places the rates will come down by Re. 1 or 4, and at
some others the rates will remain the same. The rates for the present
revision are calculated by multiplying the length of the road by the
wholesale price index, WPI. Since there was not much of an increase in
the index, the toll fees have not changed much.
