Apple Watch update watchOS 2.2

Apple Watch update watchOS 2.2

The new watchOS 2.2 for the Apple Watch makes it more secure and more useful. Along with that, it offers the ability to pair multiple Apple Watches to one iPhone. This works well for those who have a separate Apple Watch for different occasions.

The new update also has Maps enhancements along with shortcut buttons for Home and Work addresses. It adds Nearby function that allows the user to browse by category such as Food and Shopping. The heart rate measurement in the new update has been increased when used while stationary.

Most users have welcomed the new features in Maps and the imposed heart rate measurement. The multiple pairing option may come in handy for the next generation Apple Watch when users will transition from old to new.

Here is how to update the Apple Watch to watchOS 2.2:

  1. Update your iPhone to iOS 9.3. Without this update, you won`t have access to the new watchOS software.
  2. Ensure your Apple Watch has at least a 50 percent charge. You should leave it connected to its charger during the upgrade process, just in case (I`ve had it quit in the middle of an update when I forgot to connect it and the watch was still showing a 65 percent charge).
  3. Launch the Watch app on your iPhone and from the My Watch tab select General, then Software Update.
  4. After a moment, you`ll see the watchOS 2.2 update.
  5. Tap on Download and Install (after which you may be prompted to enter your passcode).
  6. The iPhone and Apple Watch will go through a downloading and installation process with progress shown on your iPhone. Once it begins you won`t have to intervene, but it can take 30-40 minutes running in the background before it completes and your Apple Watch restarts.
